I had never heard of Niantic Lab’s other game, Ingress, before Pokemon GO arrived.

In fact, all I knew about Niantic was they were somehow associated with Google as a company.

Anyway, take a look at this video explaining Niantic Lab’s other game…

How the hell did I miss this?

If I was Niantic, I’d be taking steps to ensure people know that once they’ve had enough of Pokemon GO, there’s a more grown up, serious game to try out.

Arnie_280_860679aI won’t be posting anything for a few weeks, I have some stuff going on that I need to sort out.

I’ll certainly be having some fun on Miitomo, then back to rustyshell on April 20.

See you then!

Check out this incredibly detailed look at how the inner workings of the Gameboy from YouTuber JackTech.

It’s a detailed, confusing look at the machine specifically- but also programming languages and techniques in general.

I can’t wait for Part 2.

I never knew this until just now, but Google Chrome’s no internet connection screen with the little T-Rex is actually a side scrolling endless runner.

All you have to do when the screen appears is press the space bar, then away he goes, running screen right through a minimalist desert backdrop, avoiding birds by ducking and cacti by jumping.

The game is also on the smart phone version of Chrome, but the touch screen controls are (as you’d expect) nowhere near as responsive.

Still, it’s a cute, free, offline way to pass some time in the office or when you’re out and about.

Apparently Chrome’s “Unable To Connect To The Internet” screen has featured the little dinosaur since the browsers inception in 2008, and the dinosaur game went live in 2014.

That means I could have voted for him in the Smash Ballot. What a missed opportunity.

Good luck chasing that high score.

gblogoA Giant Bomb forum post entitled What are your biggest “I’m an idiot” revelations in games? has thrown up some of the funniest, most satisfying responses I have ever read.

It also made me feel like less of an idiot as I realized people have made the same mistakes I have.

I had to share the link, so take a look at it here– it’s so worth it.

New South Wales, Australia is home to a LOT of poker machines.

Per capita in Sydney, there’s more video gambling machines than any other city in the world, including Las Vegas and Macau.

I was hanging with the rest of the cool people at my local Leagues club the other day, when a particular machine caught my eye.

The giant curved LCD screen is mesmerising

Flashing lights, huge curved screen, and Bullet Bill! Resistance was futile.

I snapped a few pics after I wasted $20 playing the stupid thing.

The giant LCD screen is mesmerising, but that's no what caught my eye

He’ll take your money and blow you to pieces just ‘cos he can.

Rip-off or coincidence?

Rip-off or coincidence?

A coincidence? I don’t think so, what do you think?

halo5He didn’t say that directly, but in a recent interview with gamespot.com, the head of Xbox spoke mostly about Halo, but there was a few interesting tid-bits about how he sees gaming more generally.

As a Nintendo fan first and foremost, I found his (and therefore the Xbox as a brand’s) views on local multiplayer pretty interesting.

When I was experimenting with the passthrough and Smartglass options on my Xbox One the other day, this delightful message appeared.

I think it’s slightly creepy how the Xbox One tries to talk to you like it’s your friend (“And you are…?”) to start with, but this is taking it too far.

Fine XB1, you can control my television… just don’t make me watch The Bachelorette.

Or ABC News 24… ever.
