Before the official announcement (of the name, we know it’s in development) I thought I’d get in with my dream Smash Bros. Wii U roster. I’m not as clever as some people who have mocked up their dream rosters using amazing Photoshop skills, so mine’s just a written list. And as for what the game will be called, how many synonyms for fight can there be? Brawl and Melee have been used, “combat” is out of the question, so I’m gonna go for Super Smash Bros. Battle Royale. Oh that’s taken too? Then I’ll go for Super Smash Bros. Dissension.

Shadow

As I said, it’s my dream roster. I love Shadow. I love his voice and his moves. Unfortunately if there’s anyone else from Sonic’s immediate universe to be included in the next SSB I reckon it will be Tails. He’s alright. Shadow’s cooler. Any hedgehog who’s brave enough to rock red highlights in their hair is alright by me.

Knuckles

I love Knuckles. He’s an Echidna, a monotreme native to Australia. But again, unfortunately it will be Tails before Knuckles, I’d say. I’d still love to see Knuckles use the spikes on his hands to smack Sonic right in the face.

NiGHTS

NiGHTS has a massive fan base and we last saw him star in a Wii exclusive game, so it’s not stretch to imagine him in SSB. He messes with your dreams.

Mewtwo

Loved him in Melee. He was kind of replaced by Lucario in Brawl. Lucario can get lost as far as I’m concerned. Mewtwo, I choose you.

Mii

Just kidding. Could you imagine if this happened? I wouldn’t put it past the Nintendo of 2013, but gee I hope not. Please no.

Little Mac

Surely after his triumphant return to the Nintendo psyche in Punch Out!! on Wii, Little Mac deserves a spot in Smash Bros. Dissension, and not just as an assist trophy. He can fight.

Travis Touchdown

If I ever do cosplay, it’ll be as Travis Touchdown. How awesome would it be to smack Mario’s ageing ass with Touchdown’s beam katana? I’m still hoping for the announcement of the Wii U exclusive No More Heroes 3.

Maxwell

Man I love Scribblenauts. What better way to further endear the already loveable Maxwell to the Nintendo audience than to include him in the next Smash game? He deserves it. He’s adorable.

Viewtiful Joe

Poor Viewtiful Joe hasn’t been seen for a while, and I was so relieved when he didn’t appear in Sony’s Smash Bros. rip off, All Stars Battle Royale. He deserves better. Red Hot Rumble Rumble was Gamecube exclusive, so it only stands to reason his next appearance should be in a Nintendo exclusive game.

Ghirahim

Bordering on obvious here as he’s an extremely popular new villain from the Zelda universe. Ghirahim is the first (openly?) gay baddie I remember in a video game. He’s cool and has great hair. Thanks to fanpop for the Ghirahim pic.

Paratrooper

Paratrooper is so awesome. He’s been around since day one and like Lakitu (although I can only imagine Lakitu with a less obvious move set) he deserves a place in the new Smash Bros.

Charizard

By himself. Charizard is a strong, popular character that deserves a chance to shine. He felt restricted in Brawl, being tied to the Pokemon trainer- he is big and tough enough to go out on his own next time round.

And who can go from Brawl…

Mr. Game & Watch, Sheik, Falco, Pokemon Trainer, Ice Climbers, Wolf, Lucario, Toon Link, R.O.B, Olimar, Jigglypuff

So my dream roster is:

Maxwell, Travis Touchdown, Knuckles, NiGHTS, Mewtwo, Little Mac, Viewtiful Joe, Ghirahim, Paratrooper, Charizard, Snake, Sonic, Lucas, Ness, Mario, DK, Link, Samus, Kirby, Fox, Picachu, Luigi, Diddy, Zelda, Pit, Metaknight, Peach, Yoshi, Ganondorf, King Dedede, Bowser, Captain Falcon and Wario.

It might not be as outlandish as some others out there, but I at least reckon mine’s realistic enough. I’d be happy with this as a playable roster.
